How Will I Be Assessed

The first year sees students complete a written examination based on the core content. The exam will ask students to demonstrate, apply and analyse knowledge and understanding of the media industry, using written and mathematical application. Assessment in the first year also involves externally set projects where you will develop a substantial body of work in response to an employer set brief.

The second year concerns a more focused approach to your occupational specialism, and concludes with a ten week assessment window in which to complete a series of linked tasks. Occupational specialist assignments will ask students to respond to a brief, carrying out research, development and reflection on other practitioners and the industry in order to create your own media related outcomes.

A successful industry placement will support learning and competence concerning business practice and the expectations, and wider considerations that are an integral part of the media and broadcasting industry.
