Exploring careers during Employability Month

20th April 2026

Across all subject areas, careers were the focus at University Campus Oldham (UCO) for Employability Month.

Classroom sessions, talks and workshops has given students the opportunity to connect with local employers, explore roles and career pathways related to their course and think about next steps.

Students have engaged with an action-packed programme with guest employers including Cast Iron Games, MAHDLO, UCAN Northwest, MioCare, Positive Steps, TOG Mind and more.

We have also been delighted to welcome some of our alumni back to campus, who have shared their journeys since graduating and given advice to current students.

Among others, alumnus Esther Malala shared her route to starting her career as a Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner and Stacey Sharples spoke about working in the probation service.

These positive, lasting connections made with students reflect the supportive learning environment that UCO offers.

Employability Month has given students an insight into real-life work opportunities in the local community and beyond, motivating them to embark on fulfilling careers.
